We stayed the night in a typical New Orleans house - a "shotgun house." A narrow rectangular house with rooms in a line, meaning you have to walk through others rooms to get outside. Quite the predicament when you are the middle room and trying to shoot sunrise at 6 AM. It's also quite the contrast to see new, extravagant houses next to run-down, abandoned houses from after Hurricane Katrina.
After another early visit to Jackson Square we got some coffee and doughnuts at Cafe Du Mond with our trip mascot Luda (a pitbull boxer mix) who you will see much more of in days to come.
