We rose for sunrise in Zion and went to view it at the canyon valley overlook. Afterwards we headed towards Death Valley - the hottest location in the United States. We headed to Death Valley expecting the temperature to be around ~90-100 degrees as a high for the day, meaning 60 or colder at night. What we didn't expect was for the first heat wave of the year to hit and the temperature to be 118 degrees in the Valley. With our newfound knowledge, it was clear we weren't staying for the night. So, we headed on towards the Sierra Nevada mountains in California in search of cooler temperatures.
